In the German version they are talking about Boris Becker. In this case it makes a little more sense. I just watched the episode and I couldnt help myself, even though this topic has been dead for more than 16 years ;).

When I first saw that Simpson's episode I asked my grandmother (who could not stand and thus did not watch the Simpson's) if she knew who Rory Calhoun was. When she said she did, I asked if he was known for anything in particular. Her answer: "Just standing around I guess. " She couldn't really back that up with any sort of detail though.
Lucky coincidence maybe? Still looking.

In the latin american version of the episode, Burns refers to Don King as the guy that's always standing up and walking. Never understand it, of course. The "because" and inside joke reason is the more accurate, I think.

I named my cat Rory Calhoun because he's always standing and walking around on his hind legs. I have no idea who Rory Calhoun is beyond this Simpsons reference. Pretty awesome this thread still exists 23 years later.
