4/26 - Father Knows Worst (LABF08)
Homer decides to handle Bart and Lisa's academic and social problems,
respectively, by "helicopter parenting" - that is, lots of hovering
over them; Marge can't get enough of the sauna in the basement

5/3 - Waverly Hills 9-0-2-1-D'oh (LABF10)
Homer and Marge rent an apartment in highbrow Waverly Hills so Bart
and Lisa can attend a better school, but Bart manages to make Lisa's
unpopularity worse by claiming she's friends with singer Alaska
Nebraska, not realizing she's playing a concert in the area; Homer
gets a little used to living without Marge when he moves into the
apartment just in case the school tries to make sure that somebody
actually lives there

5/10 - Four Great Women and a Manicure (LABF09)
Another "Simpsons characters as famous figures" anthologym with Selma
as Elizabeth I, Lisa as Snow White, Marge as Lady Macbeth, and an
adult Maggie (voiced by Jodie Foster) as - well, the way it's
described, she's a female version of Peter Keating from Ayn Rand's
"The Fountainhead" - as Marge and Lisa try to show that women can be
beautiful, intelligent, and powerful all at once

5/17 - SEASON FINALE - Coming to Homerica (LABF12)
Homer forms a vigilante group to stop the Springfield Cat Burglar...
no, wait, he forms the SpringShield security agency to take over the
town's policing - er, no, he forms a border patrol to stop Odgenville
citizens from trying to move into Springfield after its economy
crumbles like Krusty's tainted veggieburgers

5/24 - PRE-EMPTED for "Digger & Friends"...oh, and the Coca-Cola 600
NASCAR race (local programming airs after the race in the west)

"The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" (title)
"Shrek" (the Squishee)
Sports Illustrated (the magazine Skinner wants to get rid of)
8F22 (a woman gets between Bart and Milhouse)
9F05 (Maggie is involved with a portable fan)

DYN
...the Sports Illustrated issue that Skinner wants to get rid of is
from 2001, when Barry Bonds hit his 73rd home run in one season?
...there's an actual reference to El Barto made by somebody?
...the hopscotch rug in the therapist's office begins with a 2?
...when Bart set the table, he didn't put a napkin under Homer's
fork like he did for everyone else?
...Barney's vomit and Wiggum's bleeding appeared as happy faces to
Lisa?

GOOFS / FREEZE FRAME / WHATNOT
Plates of glass were falling out at the school, but those wouldn't be
held in by screws.

When Lisa is in class, her hair is messed, but in the first scene in
Principal Skinner's office, it's briefly fixed before it is messy
again.

Milhouse's hair is messed when he first appears on Bart's doorstep,
but then it appears fine.

Apu says that Bart is drinking a 512 oz Squishee, but that's four US
gallons; the cup isn't nearly big enough.

Ignoritol = Propranolol? Propranolol is a blood pressure beta blocker
used by people like me with goofily-beating hearts. Apparently it is
a "happy pill" as well.

Wasn't there a similar gag on another ep? Represitol or something?

There was Focusyn, but I'm not sure if there was one that was closer.
There may have been.

Hmm, never made me feel particularly happy, just another damn pill to take
every morning...

'Goofily-beating', is that a recognised heart diagnostic, like 'Achy
Breaky'?

No, remember episode where Homer needs heart surgery, and afterwards
we see a "goofily-beating" heart, and he has to slap his hand over his
heart to get things going again?

I liked the episode. More laughs than usual and I enjoyed the
Bart/girlfriend story...kind of like how the Jessica Lovejoy story
seemed to be going at first before Jessica turned out to be different. I
wasn't impressed with Lisa's B-story, though. Might have been more
interesting to see Lisa befriend Jen because they both like to help
people, then maybe having a dispute over politics or something.

Two goofs stood out from the unscrewing scene: first, in the long shot
the whole "Springfield Elementary School" sign is gone, but then the
letters start falling on Willie. Then, when Willie is on the ground,
there are three "N"s next to him, but there are only two "N"s in
"Springfield Elementary School". (It was a good visual gag, though.)

Arrgh! I was going to point that out. You beat me to it! That's
what I get for waiting until Monday morning to post!

BTW, I your book "Dr. Zhivago", is a masterpiece.

I had to watch that part twice, but it looks like the third "N" is
actually a broken "M."

You're right!

Call it an anti-goof, then. Well done on their part. Thanks.

One of the kids was on drugs, and Bart had a girlfriend. Who was
interfering with his friendship with Milhouse. Very original.

Another thing to note about the switch to HD: they haven't repeated

Oh, give it time. Throughout the series, a little less than half of
the couch gags are repeats, and those are usually in the second half
of the production season. Plus I doubt they're going to shoehorn an
old, low-def, 4:3 one in, though I wonder if the classic circus one
will get reanimated in time.

An actual HD question: is there anything legible only in HD now? I had
a hard time reading Lovejoy's "Psalm Pilot" a few weeks ago, though I
had averted my gaze for most of it, and then last night there were the
futuristic newspapers with gibberish text... not sure if that actually
read anything in HD.

(Dammit Buckeye Roadgeek you beat me to it!)
