A bit of a misfire, though not as bad as UABF14 a few years ago. There's
some good commentary to be made about the problems with American
capitalism that make high levels of tipping necessary (and some
connection to say, a certain recent writers' strike, though that wasn't
the union with the same initials, so maybe not), but surely a classic
Simpsons setup where Homer is ostracized for *under*tipping would drive
toward that point better than this one where he gets addicted to
*over*tipping for a personal rush (and not even in a philanthropic way).
The whole episode apart from the very beginning (the medical visits
pointing out their own related problems) occupied an unrelatable
wackyland too many modern episodes are in.
I liked the Springfield Pub[ & Brewe]ry banner on the
library-turned-restaurant. And I admit all three fakeout fantasies
fooled me.
Strange way to do the music in Executive Producer and the rest of the
credits (after the break), since it seems as if it should be continuous.
Most episodes these days have fully converted to the new format of
opening+act 1, act 2, act 3, credits, after the transitional structure
of a short 4th act (containing EPs) leading into the credits, but
watching this now reminds me of watching old episodes in syndication
where the music got split without originally being meant to. It's not
the first time I've seen this in a new episode, but it's still a little
silly. Would a streaming version or some other commercial-free
presentation have continuous music here?
