Was 'spider-pig' so damn funny to you?

I am at a loss as to why everyone thinks the "Spider-pig" gags were so
funny. They were easily the lamest part of the movie. Yes, Homer rescuing
the pig was funny. Their almost-kiss while watching TV was funny. The
footprints on the ceiling with the quick take to Homer holding the pig up
was funny.

But everyone seems to think 'spider-pig' made that movie worth the $7.50.
And that stupid Spider-pig song? Give me a break!

Don't get me wrong - I really loved the movie. I guess I'm just venting
because some people I know will start singing "spider pig, spider pig..."
then laugh like it's the funniest damn thing they've ever heard. It's
beginning to be as grating as rednecks yelling "Git'r Done!!!" - and we know
how annoying that can be.

Almost as bad as 'Achy Breaky Heart'.

No wait, *nothing* is that irritating...

I liked it. And I only paid $5 at The Mall Of America no less! I
just don't understand why people started leaving the theater before
the end credits were done, there were a number of gags still in them!!

I don't know either, "Spider-Pig" was only one short little song and one
10-second skit with Homer holding the pig to the ceiling....but after that
"bit", Homer changes Spider-Pig's name to Harry Plopper, which he stays with
for the rest of the film.....

So, I call him Harry Plopper, but why everyone is stuck on Spider-Pig is
beyond me too....

(Though, the song *is* catchy....)
"Spider-Pig, Spider-Pig, does whatever a Spider-Pig does...."

"... Can he swing, on a web? No he can't, he's a pig."

I wonder where they got that song.

There really WAS a comic called "Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-
Ham" that Marvel put out in the 1980's.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?

One of the funniest things I've ever seen. I'm still singing the song.

At least you don't have to put up with the song going top 30 in the
charts...

I thought it was a tad annoying. This is a first time in a LONG while
I've ever posted to this newsgroup since the 90's, but I had to go see
the movie yesterday on my 30th birthday and thought it was funny they
dropped the pig halfway into the film. Apparently they had no use for
him once the Simpsons left the dome, wasn't sure what happened to that
pig, either getting killed when the house fell into the sinkhole or
perhaps slaughtered by the townsfolk later on. That was the only
thing I had in my mind when the movie ended, somehow thinking that pig
would show up again in the end credits.

I haven't seen the movie - planning to wait until I'm the Chief Justice
of the Supreme Court - or when it appears on DVD, whichever is sooner...
